Five Willow Tai Chi Association of Seattle is a non profit organization created to promote the study of Tai Chi Chuan and related oriental philosophy. Five Willow Tai Chi Association sponsored the late Master Tao Ping-Siang who taught classes and workshops each year for 26 years in Seattle., Our organization is made up of his students, their students and anyone else interested in practicing Master Tao’s unique form of Tai Chi emphasizing the yielding side of Tai Chi and Water Style where softness overcomes hardness.
The mainstay of Five Willow is our weekly Saturday Morning practice, ongoing now for more than 30 years.
Year of the Dragon Celebration
Five Willow is celebrating the Year of the Water Dragon on February
4th. We will be having a New Year Buffet starting at 6pm at the
Noble Firs Clubhouse located at 1600 NE 143 St (cross street 17th
Ave NE.). A donation of $25 for food
and tea and you can bring your own beer, children are free.
Directions:
Take I-5 or Aurora to NE 145th St and head East. Turn right onto 15th Ave NE and head South.
Turn left on NE 143rd St and head East.
The Noble Firs entrance will be on your right just before 17th
Ave NE.
Please drive or walk through the gate and follow the signs to the
clubhouse. Park by “Orange Cones” marked “Guest Parking” or if they are filled up,
park on the street and walk back in.
February 11th Saturday Practice Change
Our regular Saturday Practice will be moved to Phinney Neighborhood
Center on February 11th. The
time will remain unchanged from 9am to 11am.
We will be in the “Blue Room” which is in the basement of the upper
building. Entry to this location is
through the main lobby, and down the stairs.
There are no entrances open from the parking lot, so you will need to go
up the stairs from the parking lot to the lobby, and then down again to the
basement from inside the building. The “Blue
Room” is carpeted and spacious. Phinney
Neighborhood Center is located at 6532 Phinney Ave N, just north of Woodland
Park Zoo in Seattle.
Winter Saturday Practice at Greenwood Senior Center, Seattle
Starting October 15th, Five Willows Saturday practice will move inside for the Winter at the Greenwood Senior Center located at 525 N. 85th St. Seattle (between Aurora Ave N and Greenwood Ave N). Personal warm up starts at 9am with the Simplified Form at 9:15.
All levels are welcome.
Second Saturday Push Hands Practice
Five Willow is sponsoring an open Push Hands practice on February
11th and March 10th at 1pm for one hour. This practice is open to all levels that want
to learn and practice Master Tao’s style of soft Push Hands. This is an excellent opportunity also for Tai
Chi practitioners with no experience. We
will be meeting at the lower building of Phinney Neighborhood Center (6532
Phinney Ave N) in room 32.
